LOUISE BOURGEOIS
For the 2017 ADAA Art Fair Peter Blum Gallery will present a solo exhibition of early and rare works by Louise Bourgeois. The exhibition will feature an important group of drawings and paintings from the late 1940s and early 1950s that display some of the earliest manifestations of themes and motifs that have been prevalent throughout her career: architecture and memory, sexuality and fragility, trauma and hidden emotion. The works, most of which have rarely been publicly shown, are inhabited by abstracted portraits and landscapes inspired by Bourgeois’ childhood home in the Creuse region of central France.
