Drawing a Line in the Sand

Art in America
January 30, 2012

Over the past century, the very definition of drawing has been in flux. Drawings, once perceived as preparation for larger artworks, have manifested themselves as an art form that stands on its own. The exhibition presents a variety of drawings by twelve artists, spanning from the 1960's to the present. Concentrating on the gravity of the line, the artists featured in the exhibition employ an array of techniques and materials such as pencil, graphite, charcoal, watercolor, enamel and even the folding of paper, questioning and amplifying the possibilites of the medium.
