Like Christmas music in department stores, it feels like Art Basel coverage gets introduced earlier and earlier eve ry yea r. We’ve alread y looked at early sales and spotlighted some top emerging artists, yet the fair only just officially opened today

And we’re not done yet. As you peruse the aisles of the newly renovated convention center, here are eight booths from artne t’s p artner galleries that you won’t want to miss.

 

Peter Blum Gallery

In the fair’s Survey sector, New York gallerist Peter Blum presents a solo show of rare sculptures from Joyce J. Scott, a Baltimore-born artist known for mixing traditional craft techniques with the language of contemporary sculpture. The works on display, all from the early part of Scott’s prolific career, from t he 1970s to the onset of the ’90s, showcase her facility for melding intricate beadwork with blown glass, found objects, weaving, and other materials.
